The challenges of Motherhood

Motherhood is fucking hard. There have been times where motherhood for me has felt so overwhelming that I’ve had intrusive thoughts that scared me. I constantly wrestle with mum guilt—whether it’s about not doing enough, doing too much, or just feeling like I’m getting it all wrong. The monotony of motherhood can really get to me, too. The endless cycle of chores, caregiving, and the pressure to keep everything running smoothly can feel suffocating.

But what I’ve found is that there’s incredible solace in talking to other mums who are going through it too. Just sharing those raw, honest experiences can make you feel less alone. Women’s circles give you a space to connect, reflect, and remember that you’re not in this alone.

How to Get Involved

Most circles operate on a booking basis, so it’s best to contact them directly for schedules and availability. Many of these circles also have online communities or social media pages where you can stay updated on upcoming events.

Every Season of Motherhood is Hard

Motherhood isn’t just hard when your children are babies. Every stage, from the early sleepless nights to the challenges of raising teens, comes with its own set of struggles. The beauty of women’s circles is that you don’t have to be a new mum to join. These spaces are open to all mothers, no matter what season of motherhood you’re in.

Why not try one and see where it leads you?

Celebrate your Journey

Documenting this journey can be deeply meaningful—whether through writing, photography, or simply sharing your story with others. As a photographer, I’ve found so much joy in helping mums capture their unique motherhood experience. You don’t have to enjoy every moment of motherhood—that’s not realistic, and it’s okay to acknowledge the hard parts. But your journey as a mother, with all its highs and lows, is still worth celebrating. Capturing those raw, beautiful moments isn’t about perfection; it’s about honoring the truth of your experience. If you’ve been considering a session to document your journey, I’d love to talk more about how we can create something special together, but there’s absolutely no pressure—this is your journey, in your time.
